In 2009, Lumen London were invited by the government of New South Wales to curate and contribute to the first ever LUMINOUS festival in Sydney, Australia.
Located in, on and around the Sydney Opera House, this was an arts festival of music, performance, art and lectures
with an emphasis on the idea of light and how it can be used as an artist's medium.
Brian Eno was the guest curator and selected the program of events for the entire festival.
THESE EVENTS INCLUDED
•For the first time in its history, turning the entire exterior of The Sydney Opera House into an art work.
This was achieved through mapping a projected generative painting, similar o 77 Million Paintings onto the exterior of both sides of the building for the duration of the 21 day festival.
• A 77 Million Paintings installation was built in the main gallery of the Opera House.
• A program of musical performances was curated and organised which included an extended, improvised piece called PURE SCENIOUS
featuring Brian Eno, Karl Hyde, Jon Hopking, Loe Abrahams, The Necks, with set design and projections by Nick Robertson.
• There were also performances by Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Larajji, Jon Hassell, Battles, Reggie Watts
• A stage adaption of David Eagleman's award winning book 'SUM: Tales of the Afterlives' directed and designed by Nick Robertson.
• Workshops, lectures, and happenings throughout the festival.
The festival's brand and publicity was art directed by Nick Robertson

BRIGHTON FESTIVAL • 2010

In 2010, Lumen London were invited to repeat the Australian festival project and create a version for The Brighton Festival.
This was to be held at various locations throughout the city, centring around the Brighton Pavilion.
Many of the events from Sydney were repeated including Pure Scenious, Afterlives, musical performances, lectures and happenings.
Nick Robertson branded the festival and created all the publicity material.

PUNKT FESIVAL • Kristiansand, Norway • 2012

In 2012 Lumen London & Eno were asked to curate and provide artworks for the PUNKT fesival which takes place in The Kilden Performing Arts Centre
in Krisiansand, Norway. Nick Robertson was aked to give a public lecture on his design methodology and the realtionship between music and visual art.
